As a prequel to the celery supermarket mission this morning we walked around the town centre of Portimao and discovered that it’s much nicer than the first impression.
We stopped at a small cafe (just one of the many that line the streets), but at least this one had all the lights on. It seems to be a very popular way for the shops to save money by hardly ever having the shops and cafés lit.
Some will turn on the lights once they have customers through the door – a significant sign of the ever present crisis that Portugal is going through.
I particularly like the serviette holder…. very apt for us motor homers!!
We also found these cakes on display…. A pig with suckling piglets –
And a fish! All very creative.
We also stumbled across an exhibition of work by textile artist Lena Vansteelant. Amazing work on huge pieces, so detailed, I would have easily bought at least three of them.
And this one which I think is my favourite….
