Funky Baglet success!

Just busy recovering from a huge weekend for my business Funky Designs, at the Homes, Gardens & Lifestyle Show, at the La Sella Golf Marriott Hotel. I had amazing support from Bruce, who was my Roadie, Lighting Technician and Sales Assistant for the two day fair. We had to set up the basis of the stand on Thursday, so in with the boxes, bags, table cloths, and other display décor…..all the things that go into providing an eye catching display are normally unnoticed, but all take time.

Then on Friday morning it was a very early start, and in with the amazing LED lights, (supplied by wonderful friend Jim), run off our old motorhome 12v battery, providing a bright and sparkly touch to the Funky Baglets.

Putting the stock out always takes a lot longer than you would imagine, but we were ready for doors opening at 10am to the public. There was a lot to see at the Show, including celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson, and antiques specialist Mark Stacey, who both passed around the floor looking at the stands, so Bruce took a couple of photos.

We met a lot of regular Baglet devotees, and lots of new people were introduced to them and ‘adopted’ them to take them home! I always think of my leather bags like puppies – as I make each one they all seem to have personalities, so it’s important to rehome them to loving people. I do find that like puppies, you know when it’s the right Baglet, and I did nearly have Baglet Wars on the stand as one woman quickly snapped up a Baglet that another woman wanted to buy…. But as I make each one unique, then there is no way I can repeat them, which is part of why they are so special.

All in all a very, very good couple of days. Totally exhausting, but worth the hard work leading up to it. Normally I do the small craft markets, but think now I will concentrate more on the larger events, as its easier in the long run. We did have fun, with Bruce regularly heading off in search of goodies to nibble on, cake samples, plates of scrummy Serrano Jamon, samples from the Costa Cook Off in the gardens and also from the local BBQ shop with succulent Iberican Pork. He managed to snaffle so much food and drink (samples of sherry, and mojitos) that our sandwiches were more or less untouched both days!

Then at the end of play on Saturday, we packed up the stand, and went home, to then head back out again to Jim & Debs as they were cooking for us to allow us to chill down after the hectiness! I must admit that I was so chilled out I went in my one-sie! And we had a lovely evening, eating scrummy and very garlic laden oven baked Camembert, loaded potato skins, salad, and more cheese, followed by light as air chocolate mousse, and baby lemon meringue style pies.
