Friday morning we were all packed up and ready to roll, picking up Jim & Deb on the way we made it to Tortosa which is on the river Ebro.
We found the hotel easily, and went on an explore around the town for some lunch – sneaky portion of holiday chips and a Bocadillo – oh, and a holiday shandy as it was very hot!
We all wandered around the town, taking in the display of models that they use in the local fiestas – mostly with huge heads made from glass fibre and some up to 3m tall. Deb and I particularly liked the horses that you hung from your shoulders and then trotted around with!
An exciting part of the afternoon was Jim going for a haircut in a local morrocan barbers for only 5€! We did get a touch concerned about the cut throat razor that came out…. but all turned out ok.
Then it was back to the hotel via the back streets and some cloisters for luxurious baths (can’t afford the water at home!!), before heading back to town for a Chinese.
Sadly the restaurant that we had visited before gas dipped dramatically in quality, and although we had 3 courses for 7.50€, they were all served at different times to the other people on the table. So I had my spring roll about 5 minutes before the last had their salads and before Deb had her u belly hot soup. Second course was rice…which although we asked for it to be served with the main, came 10 minute’s before, so got eaten, then the mains came in stages as well.
Possibly the most bizarre meal ever….with minging vinegar disguised as wine…..Needless to say that we didn’t leave a tip!!
